Dr. RD “Sully” Sullivan — a pastor for the city, not the platform.

His story

Sully has walked through fire: years of domestic violence, a near-death battle with cancer, and raising six kids through all of it. Pain didn’t stop him — it positioned him.

He has spent decades in San Antonio — on the streets, in hospitals, behind prison walls, and around the dinner table — doing the long, unglamorous work of loving people into the family of God.

Why Anchored SA exists

Anchored SA is for people who left a church but never left God. Sully preaches the Bible plainly, prays for people personally, and believes healing should be normal here — never performance, never pressure. Come once and never come back, and you’re still welcome.

Writing and coaching

He writes where faith, trauma, identity and leadership meet — helping men heal, church-hurt believers find their way back, and leaders build what lasts. His motto: if it doesn’t make sense — make change.

Beyond the pulpit

Outside Sunday mornings, Dr. Sully works as an industrial-organizational psychology professional, executive consultant, educator and keynote speaker through DrSullySpeaks. He coaches leaders with a trauma-informed approach and created the MAKECHANGE framework — ten pillars from Momentum and Healing to Growth and Empowerment — used in his coaching and leadership masterclasses.

The same conviction runs through all of it: people heal best when they are seen, told the truth, and never rushed. What he teaches boardrooms, he first learned in hospital rooms and living rooms here in San Antonio.
